~ Canoe Float Trips to explore River Estuaries ~

Paddling our classic 30’-foot Voyager Canoe throughout the Snohomish and Skagit River Estuaries offers folks from all walks of life an opportunity to experience the history and beauty of one of our most important natural resources.  Estuaries provide a rich and dramatic environment to view wildlife and learn about nature in places seldom visited by society.  Join us year-round as we explore the backwaters and sloughs of these important waterways.  Trips are conducted 7 days a week – just call us to make a reservation!

Traveling in our unique 14 – 20 person canoes is reminiscent of the characteristic mode of travel used in the late 1800’s.  Schools, clubs, environmental groups and paddling enthusiasts have joined us for trips that last from as little as an hour and a half to a multiple-day trip.  Regardless of the length all trips feature a snack or gourmet meal, custom itineraries, and experienced naturalist guides.

For more information and bookings, call anytime – days or nights

Come with us for some April fun!

Chinook Expeditions welcomes you to our spring and summer schedule of river rafting expeditions.  We invite you to join us this spring on some of the Pacific Northwest's best natural history float tours.  We offer these exclusive trips as a reflection of over two decades of guiding wildlife tours and interpretive seminars for schools, group tours, families, and individuals.  Our scenic float trips focus on comfortable rafts to sit on, interpretive and educational experience, great scenery, and a gourmet banquet style lunch or potlatch barbeque is provided by your guides along the way. Shuttle transportation is also provided.  A trip rendezvous package of information will be forwarded when you call.  These two trips are happening by special reservation.  Minimum group size of four, maximum since up to 60.  We are offering these trips for the special price of $65.00 per person. Senior and group rates available.

Lower Skagit River and Estuary Float

Join us on a seldom seen section of the Skagit River.  We start by driving by the world famous fields of tulips in bloom in the Skagit Delta.  We may also see migratory snow geese by the hundreds in their winter and spring home along the Skagit Flats.  We begin our river trip in the farm town of Conway around 11:00 am.  On the river you will see all kinds of wildlife from waterfowl to eagles, maybe even sea otters!  We drift by historic "fishtown", visit historic sites and tidal islands, and enjoy a homemade and hearty lunch prepared by our guides.  We finish up in the town of Laconner.  This trip takes between 2.5 to 3 hours.

Snohomish Estuary Tours

Steamboat  / Ebey Slough  Discover old growth Spruce groves in a timeless setting. Explore paddle trails through grasslands and bayou-like backwaters.  You’ll see Great Blue Herons, Cormorants and Marsh Hawks and eagles along the way. Occasional deer can also be seen.  Langus Riverfront  Park / Marysville  to Otter Island. One Day 4-5 hours.

The Skykomish River

The Skykomish River offers the most spectacular scenery and varied trips to do this time of year.  The weekends in March and April are great times celebrating the new melting snow and the majestic mountain scenery.  Most of our Skykomish trips follow the seasonal rhythms of weather and water levels.  At this time we find the run from Index to Gold Bar provides the best all around early season fun!  You can stay dry or go for the whitewater.  Either way a great trip.  Our Saturday trips feature an authentic native American dance and pow-wow at Tipi Trek along here in Gold Bar. Truly unique!

Hope to see you on the river soon, ask about our Olympic Penisula rain forest tours, and our annual run on the Toutle river along Mt. St. Helens in April.
